General maintenance for cassette decks

Описание к видео General maintenance for cassette decks

This video is general instruction how to do simple maintenance for vintage cassette decks. There are many manufacturers and models, but I'll show tips that can be applied to any old cassette decks. I'll show how to figure out the structure enough to change the belt without manufacturer instructions and I'll also show how to make visual inspection for the electronics.

One obvious thing I didn't told on the video is that with old devices, many common problems are caused by dust getting inside the device. Always clean up the dust and other dirt from the device, especially from the moving parts and most importantly from the tape heads.

Device I'm working on, is called "Expert Pro Sound FD-760", but it is re-branded device for local home appliance store, possibly from the 80's. Based on the looks and the label "made in japan" I guess it's made by JVC. Work your way inside the device carefully so that you can find all hidden screws and plastic clips and other fastening features.

Side note:
I'm a mechanical engineer, but what it comes to electronics, I'm mostly self-learned. Do not try to fix your electronic devices if you're not sure what you're doing. If you handle electrical devices carelessly, you may get electrical shock or cause malfunction to the device.
