Testing Ignition Coils For Faulty Module Using Multi-Meter | Solving Misfire P030X Honda Insight 2ZE

There are many ways to test the ignition coils in your car for faulty or bad module and they even have special tools you can buy in order to test them. In this video, young DIY mechanic Aiman will give you ideas and show you how to test the ignition coils on a 2nd generation Honda Insight using multimeter. This video is part of a mini-series on our quest to diagnose the OBDII Engine error code cylinder misfire P0301 P0302 P0303 P0304 (single and all 1,2,3,4) and multiple random misfires P0300. One unique features of Honda Insight 2ZEs that most owners are not aware of is that is has 8 spark plugs & 8 ignition coil pack, 1 per cylinder (4 in the front and 4 in the back behind the engine near the firewall under the cowl. Why does the Honda Insight have 8 spark plugs?
i-DSI engine; to increase fuel efficiency which have 8 spark plugs (2 for each cylinder) to get FULL fuel combustion everytime it ignite.

The Honda Insight (& Civic) Hybrid has 8 spark plugs because it has a unique powertrain system that combines a gasoline engine with an electric motor. The gasoline engine uses 4 spark plugs, while the electric motor uses 4 additional spark plugs. This allows the vehicle to switch seamlessly between gasoline and electric power, and to maximize fuel efficiency. Additionally, the 8 spark plugs help to ensure optimal engine performance and reduce emissions.

Replacing the spark plugs in this (my brother's Asfa 2010 Insight) is our first step in trying to solve the single and multiple misfires. This was discuss in great length in our previous video. This video is a second in this mini-series. The next step for us is to test the ignition coil pack using multimeter. There will be more videos until we solved the problem. Honda Insight:
The Honda Insight is a hybrid electric vehicle that was manufactured and marketed by Honda in its first generation as a two-door, two passenger liftback (1999–2006) and in its second generation as a four-door, five passenger liftback (2009–2014).

Second generation (ZE2/ZE3; 2010–2014):
The new Insight includes Honda's fifth generation of its Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system. This system mates an internal combustion engine with an electric motor mounted directly to the engine's crankshaft between the engine and transmission. The original Honda Insight had eight spark plugs, one per cylinder.
