This video contains the basic process of drug discovery and drug development.
Drug discovery and development process are divided into 5 major stages:
1. Drug discovery stage: in this stage, drug targets are selected, find out the lead compound, optimize the lead compound, and preliminarily evaluate the pharmacological profile.
2. Preclinical development: Animal studies to evaluate pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic profile.
3. Clinical Development: human studies to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the drug
4. Regulatory Approval by FDA
5. Pharmacovigilance: ADR reporting after marketing/ Assessment of Risk to Benefit Ratio.
