The Wonky Reno

This wonky home has suffered severe historical movement (subsidence). We managed to purchase it well below market value, and we are slowly straightening it back out!

The property was built in 1901, and itwas revealed through the searches to have been constructed over a moat! This explains why the house has shifted so dramatically over time, though the full cause remains shrouded in mystery. We believe that not only has the house moved at some point in its life (likely very early on, through settlement), but it was also built incorrectly and out of shape, contributing to the dramatic look of this wonky property.

We are aiming to finish the project up to the first fix with the builder (handling all the big, difficult work), and then complete the finishing stages ourselves. This approach will save money and allow us to move into the property sooner.
