Presenting the A-side to one pretty rare 45 from the collection: "Find Somebody New" by Scotty Wayne, released October 30th, 1961, on the Talent Scout label (1007 - A).

While the B-side "Lonely Night" offered a jazzy ballad feel, "Find Somebody New" showcases the driving, swamp-pop rhythm of the early 1960s Texas R&B scene. Recording under the Scotty Wayne pseudonym, Baldemar Huerta delivers a powerful vocal performance backed by some of the finest musicians the South Texas area had to offer.

Vocals & Electric Guitar: Scotty Wayne (Freddy Fender)

Instrumentation: Tommy & The Tom Toms — a legendary Arlington, Texas based Rock 'N' Roll/Rockabilly group that frequently backed artists for Texas labels like Talent Scout & others & even recorded & released a 45 on the Duncan label.

Tenor Saxophone: Rudy Guerra of Sunny & The Sunliners (The Sunglows). Rudy’s signature "honking" style provides the melodic backbone that defined Freddy's early sound.

Historical Significance:
Recorded at Jeff Smith's Texas Sound Studio, this track captures the raw energy of the "West Side Sound" at its peak. The collaboration between Freddy and Tommy & The Tom Toms resulted in a smooth, professional rhythm section that perfectly complemented Freddy's Rockabilly and Swamp - pop/Soul roots. Like the original 1959 version of "Wasted Days & Wasted Nights," this session relies heavily on the chemistry between the vocals and the driving tenor sax.

About This Mix:
This is a Stereo Remaster created from the original 45 RPM mono pressing. I have panned the Tom Toms' rhythm section and Rudy Guerra’s saxophone to create a wide, immersive soundstage that was never heard before in this way. A light touch of reverb has been added to bring out the natural "room" sound of the Jeff Smith studio sessions.
