作品について / Program notes
2010年に春日部共栄高等学校の委嘱により作曲しました。2009年の同校委嘱作品の「ラッキードラゴン」に引き続き作曲させていただくにあたり、標題音楽ではない、純粋な器楽曲を目指して作りました。ただ「ラッキードラゴン」が内容的に最後の和音が長３和音で終わらす事が出来なかったので、長３和音で終結出来る様な曲にしたいと言う願望が根底にあったのかもしれません。

曲は、５つの部分(テンポ設定)になっております。主題は、冒頭の「鐘」の旋律、３小節目からの木管群の旋律、37小節目からの半音の上向系の旋律の３つの主題から構成されています。「祈りの鐘」と命題したのは、冒頭や中間部や最後の部分で「鐘」の音色、旋律が印象的に鳴り響くと良いなと思ったからです。

The composition consists of 5 scenes. Developing the "bell" motif in the beginning, the woodwind melody, and the melody of an ascending semitone establishes this work. It was not intended to be program music, rather an instrumental piece. Though, the composition was titled "Bells for Prayer" because the timbre and melody of the bell effect should have profound meaning and resonance.
