Ultimate Oil Change Procedure and Tips, KTM / Husqvarna / GASGAS 450 / 500 / 501 EXCF

on this episode of 'Bench Engine' we drill down into the oil change procedure on a brand new 20 450/500/501 engine and take a look at all the tips and tricks for completing a full LOF with notes about specific parts and components to pay attention to in an attempt to make the most comprehensive oil change video ever.

while the example engine in this video is a 20-21, most of the tips and components apply to the 12-19 engine as well. check your service manual and parts fiche to confirm.

A few key things to remember when changing oil:

*pull the tranny screen and magnet plug first, the engine screen last. Reinstall in any order
*don’t remove the oil pressure plug
*use a summer and winter weight oil as recommended in the service manual and per the ambient ride temperatures in your area
*change the filter as often as you feel comfortable with, we do ours every other oil change
*always pre soak the filter or half fill the filter cavity
*the best performing (shifting and clutch slip) oil we’ve tested is the Motul 7100 T4 10W/50

incidentally Shell really does have legit MA rated oil and Rotella isn't in. it's known as Shell Advance released in the late 90's with a base stock created from natural gas and it's good enough for BMW Motorrad because they bottle it as their Advantec Pro oil which is what your new Bimmer comes with already in the crankcase.
