Visiting the World's Largest Magellanic Penguin Colony!

Embarking on this incredible 2-day wildlife adventure in Puerto Madryn, Argentina, was an absolute highlight of our journey with Holland America on a 22-day South America and Antarctica cruise from December 16, 2023, to January 03, 2024.

🏞️ Land Adventures:
Join us as we explore Puerto Madryn's wildlife paradise, meeting fascinating creatures and enjoying breathtaking landscapes.

Our first day led us to Peninsula Valdes, home to Southern elephant seals, sea lions, and Magellanic penguins. The journey was tough - a rugged 2-hour drive on rough terrain, costing us $250.

Day two was equally thrilling, visiting Punta Tombo, the largest Magellanic penguin colony. We encountered Magellanic penguin chicks and other wildlife after another bumpy 2-hour drive, costing $200.

For transportation, we opted for a taxi just outside the port, which was a quick 10-minute walk away. The taxi service offered fixed prices for various destinations. However, we found that paying in cash was more advantageous due to less favourable exchange rates for credit cards.
