To celebrate 10 years as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Ruinart opened its gardens for SPARK by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde.

SPARK is a sustainable light installation by Studio Roosegaarde, presented at Maison Ruinart in Reims, France.

Set within the historic grounds of 4 Rue des Crayères, part of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Champagne chalk cellars, SPARK unfolded over two evenings as thousands of biodegradable lights drifted silently through the gardens. The work formed a living constellation, creating a quiet dialogue between nature, technology, and centuries of heritage.

Maison Ruinart, the world’s oldest champagne house, opened its UNESCO site to the public for this immersive experience. The location has also been recognized by TIME as one of the World’s 100 Most Beautiful Places, marking it as a contemporary cultural destination as much as a historic one.

Created by artist and innovator Daan Roosegaarde, SPARK continues Studio Roosegaarde’s exploration of light as a poetic, responsible medium, offering an alternative to fireworks through silence, movement, and environmental care.
