--THE REIGN OF CASTAMIR-- Historical Scenario by paladinbob

The year is 1432 and Gondor is a House Divided. With support from the Southern Fiefdoms, Castamir the Usurper has risen up against his king in order to protect the "purity" of the Numenorean line, opposing him is the rightful king of Gondor, Eldacar the half-Numenorean son of Valacar. Eldarcar was fearless in his opposition to those who would depose him, but when full civil war erupted in 1432 the rebels moved against Osgiliath, the then capital of Gondor. Eldacar's armies were defeated and he was forced to flee to Rhovanion, his mother's country. Castamir hunted down Eldacar's heir, Ornendil, and had him cruelly executed.

This battle is only the start of the Kin-strife as the conflict would later be known. A devastating civil war that spent much of the Numenorean blood left in Gondor and threw the realm into a decline that it would take over a 1,000 years and the appearance of a new king to recover from.
