Bedroom Walls & Pocket Windows | Skoolie Build

In this video it was finally time to finish the upper section of walls and insulation, including a last-minute idea for pocketed windows. The paneling required a lot of detailed cuts in the bedroom nook, at the back of the bus. Then Kerry got the bright idea to add a couple of stealth pocket windows into the build, so Mike found a way to make it happen. We've never even seen or heard of pocket windows before ~ it's just a miniature version of pocket doors! We think they'll be great for cutting down on noise from outside, helping to maintain temperature, and of course, for privacy and light control as well.
We didn't like the look of the closed shutters when seeing them through the glass windows from the outside the bus; they seemed like unfinished walls or something! So we gave them a shadow-box treatment, using vintage maps and postcards, old coins & stamps, etc, from my arts and crafts "collection." The maps are literally from 1961 and 1965 National Geographic magazines that belonged to my grandparents, and there are post marks from 1901. Kind of cool!

About Us:

Hi! We are Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1996 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40" school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty.
We're building a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible! In other words, Bussy will not be parked in our driveway, waiting for weekend or holiday getaways... when we finish the build, we'll be packing everything we're keeping into the bus and driving away from this old house forever!
We plan to be boondocking the majority of the time, so you'll see that reflected in our choices throughout the build (100 gallon water tank, composting toilet, solar power system, etc). We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, throughout the Skoolie Build, and to Infinite Adventures Beyond!

Mike & Kerry
