Feed Dog Adjustment on Sears Kenmore 158.1941 Free Arm Convertible Sewing Machine

Описание к видео Feed Dog Adjustment on Sears Kenmore 158.1941 Free Arm Convertible Sewing Machine

This video shows how to adjust the feed dogs on a Kenmore Model 158.19412 free arm convertible sewing machine from the late 1970s. The 157.19412 is the last in the 1941 series.

This is an eBay purchase that was represented by the seller as working.

I made this video to share my success in fixing my machine after CAREFULLY tinkering when I could not find any resources on the internet or a local repair shop. Note I stress CAREFULLY.

This video is specific to Kenmore sewing machines of this era made in Japan that may have the same or similar mechanical configuration.

I am by no means an expert and while sharing my success with my machine, please note that you make this repair at your own risk. I am not responsible for damage to your machine.

This repair will likely apply to all Model 1941 Kenmores, which includes Models 158.19410, 158.19411 and 158.19412.

Note that Model 158.19410 is the first in the series of 1941 models and is a low shank machine. The 158.19411 and 158.19412 are both super high shank. This machine is also has a center homing needle vs a left homing needle.

Christmas.musetechnical web site has quite a few vintage Sears catalogues on line. I was able to find the 1941 in the 1976 Fall Winter catalogue on page 1157 for $296.00. Here is the link: https://christmas.musetechnical.com/S...

Other Kenmore sewing machines from this era have a similar configuration with the feed dogs.

The feed dogs for the machine depicted in the video were out of alignment in both the forward and backward motion as well as the height.

I also noticed the feed dog drop lever was also out of alignment and did not allow the bullet part to clear so as to allow the feed dogs to completely drop. That adjustment is also discussed in the video.

Thank you for watching and happy sewing.
