At the CSD demonstration in Berlin, people take to the streets for the rights of gays, lesbians, transsexuals and transgender people, intersexuals and bisexuals.

Around a million people usually take part in the CSD parade. The CSD commemorates the first known uprising of homosexuals and other sexual minorities against police brutality in New York's Christopher Street in Greenwich Village on June 27, 1969 in the Stonewall Inn bar. This led to days of street battles between homosexuals and the police.
