திருக்கடாவூர் வெள்ளடயீஸ்வரர் கோயில் சம்பந்தர், அப்பர், சுந்தரர் பாடல் பெற்ற சோழ நாட்டு காவிரி தென்கரை தலம் சிவன் கோவிலாகும். இது தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டத்தில் பாபநாசம் வட்டத்தில் காவிரி வெட்டாற்று கரையில் அமைந்துள்ள சிவன் கோவில் ஆகும். பசியோடிருந்த சுந்தரருக்கு இறைவன் கட்டமுதும் நீரும் தந்து பசிபோக்கிய தலமென்பது தொன்நம்பிக்கை (ஐதிகம்). தேவாரப் பாடல் பெற்ற தலங்களில் தேவாரப்பாடல் பெற்ற சோழ நாடு காவிரி தென்கரைத் தலங்களில் அமைந்துள்ள 18ஆவது சிவத்தலமாகும்.
தல வரலாறு
ஊர்த்தவ மகரிஷியின் சாபத்தால் நித்துவரின் மனைவி வேதிகைக்கு ஏற்பட்ட கருச்சிதைவை இறைவன் மருத்துவம் பார்த்து அவள் கருவைக் காத்ததால் - கருகாவூர் என்று பெயர் பெற்றது.
திருக்களாவூர் என மக்களால் பொதுவாக அழைக்கப்பெறும் இத்தலம் மாதவி வனம், முல்லைவனம், திருக்கருகாவூர், கர்ப்பபுரி என்று பல பெயர்களால் நூல்களில் குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது. மாதவி (முல்லைக்கொடியை) தலவிருட்சமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளதால் மாதவி வனம் (முல்லை வனம்) என்றும், கரு+கா+ஊர். கரு-தாயின் வயிற்றில் உள்ள (குழந்தைக்) கருவை, கா-காத்த (காக்கின்ற), ஊர்-ஊர், கருகாவூர் எனப் பெயர் பெற்றது.

கும்பகோணம் - ஆவூர் - மிலட்டூர் வழியாகத் தஞ்சாவூர் செல்லும் சாலையில் உள்ளது இத்தலம். இத்தலத்திற்கு தஞ்சாவூர் பழைய பேருந்து நிலையத்திலிருந்தும், கும்பகோணத்திலிருந்தும் நகரப் பேருந்துகள் உள்ளன.

It is true that her dynamic stage presence, dignity of deportment and pleasing demeanour have endeared her to one and all. She has been featured in many prestigious festivals in India and abroad, and has received international acclaim and appreciation. It is not an exaggeration that she has become a role model for the youthful aspirants of Carnatic Music in the present day scenario. Sudha Ragunathan’s most recent recognition is the National Award – “Padmabhushan ” from the President of India on 2015.
