Get Help from Online Mindfulness Therapist - Online Therapy Service via Skype.
Welcome! My name is Peter Strong, and I am a professional online therapist. I offer online therapy via Skype for the treatment of anxiety, for the treatment of depression, for the treatment of addictions and other emotional problems.
This style of therapy works very well indeed for anxiety and depression, where the focus is on helping you change the underlying habitual process that creates the anxiety or depression. We need to find ways of changing those patterns of reactive thinking that feed the anxiety or depression. We need to find ways of defusing them, and this is very central to the style of psychotherapy that I offer, which is called Mindfulness Therapy.
In Mindfulness Therapy we basically train the mind to become very aware of patterns of reactive or automatic thinking. Seeing these patterns of thoughts allows us to break free of them by a very simple principle that if you can see thought, in the moment of direct seeing, you become separated from that thought, you are no longer identified with the thought. You now become the conscious presence that sees that thought. So, this very simple process of awakening to reactive thoughts is a fundamental mechanism that allows us to break free from them, and basically the more you see your thoughts and the more thoughts you see, the freer you become. So, this is a central focus in Mindfulness Therapy, and during the online therapy sessions I will teach you very specific practical methods to train yourself, that you can use between sessions to refine this skill. That's one side of Mindfulness Therapy.
The second side of this work involves working with the emotions, the core emotions that lie beneath the thoughts: core emotions of anxiety, depression or compulsion. And here we apply the same principle, that is the more you see of these underlying emotions the more distance you develop, the freer you become.
But, with the emotions we need also to respond with compassion and a quality of friendliness. We need to take care of these emotions. We need to explore their structure, which is mostly in the form of internal imagery - how you see the emotions internally - and we need to discover how to change this internal imagery, how to change the way you actually see the emotion internally. When you change this imagery you change the emotion, you begin to defuse the emotion. Then you begin to take away this emotional energy that feeds the reactive thinking and the reactive behaviors, such as addiction.
So, these are two principles that we explore in great detail during the online therapy sessions of Mindfulness Therapy. There are many other aspects to this work.
