Phillip Sear plays an 'illustration' (ie, a transcription) of a song by Nicolas Bosret, made by the great Belgian harpist and pianist Félix Godefroid (1818-1897).

The composer, pianist and harpist Dieudonné-Félix Godefroid (1818-1897) was born in Namur, Belgium, but moved to France as a child and spent most of his life there. He was one of the outstanding performers of the 19th century, a virtuoso on both harp (for which he is mainly remembered) and piano. His harp works are still played, and you will find examples on YouTube, but his piano works are largely forgotten. This is a shame because he was a superb composer, and his piano pieces could easily appear with credit to provide variety in (say) a Chopin recital. Nicolas Bosret (1799-1876) was, like Godefroid himself, born in Namur, and the song on which this piece is based was written in Walloon. Godefroid dedicated his transcription to the 'Société de Moncrabeau', a philanthropic folklore preservation group that exists to this day as the 'Royale Moncrabeau' ( http://bit.ly/1pAP7Wi ). Moncrabeau itself is a town in Gascony, France - known as the world capital of liars. I can't find any information on a carillon there, although there is certainly one in Namur.
