Every woodworker should have a set of whetstones in their workshop and to show why I used a cheap chisel I picked up at my local hardware store and a couple of whetstones I picked up on Amazon.

I am by no means an expert on sharpening tools but with my whetstones and some simple technique, I sharpened this chisel to a razor sharp edge. That's how easy it is.

There are many safer ways to test if a chisel is sharp. Use a piece of paper or check it on a piece of wood.
