Scalpers took a gamble by buying loads of RTX 4080s without realizing hardly anybody wanted this graphics card in the first place. Now they’re left with loads of graphics cards they can’t sell and are turning back to the retailer to return their cards in mass. However, retailers are instating policies to prevent that from happening as its not their problem the scalper couldn’t resell their cards. This makes me glad; scalpers ruin the market for everyone, and hopefully this discourages them from doing so in the future. We also have some rumours that Nvidia is considering a price drop for the RTX 4080 to make it more competitive in the market. I think this is because supply for the 30 series is starting to run out and they want to shift their focus on the 40 series. This will make things interesting as AMD’s RX 7900XTX is expected come out mid December.
