"Urge" (10 min, 16mm, 2000)

Before real estate, I worked as an actor. I majored in drama & history at U of T & spent two years at George Brown Theatre School.

My mom discouraged me because she saw there were so few opportunities for Asian actors. I knew what she meant but I really loved it.

When I left theatre school in 1999 I wanted to create my own work.
I took a short film writing class at LIFT. This idea came from that class. Both my teacher & mentor read my drafts & gave feedback.

During that year I worked in craft services for film shoots & stand-in work to save up the money to make this short called Urge (10min., 16mm, 2000).

I had no film background but was surrounded by great people who were talented, generous & supportive.

Other than having never written a film, produced a film, directed a film, I decided to do all that & act in it. Yup it was a big learning experience!
