Fly in a MIG-29 Fighter Jet to The Edge of Space for $20,000

A company by the name of Migflug, offers a range of flights in military jets, and one of those flights takes you to the edge of space in the famous Russian Mig-29 Fulcrum.

Tourists can fly as a passenger in the backseat of the Mig29, to an altitude of up to 19km or 11.8 miles, which is about 62,000 ft. The altitude reached, depends on the weather and the air temperature, but an altitude of at least 17km is guaranteed.

During flight you can expect the jet to accelerate with full afterburner reaching a supersonic speed of Mach 1.7 and each flier can experience an average G-force of 7.5g.

Flights in the Mig-29 to high altitudes, are called Edge of space flights, costing up to $17,500 euro or $20,600 US dollars.

As part of the flight package you can even fly the Mig-29 jet on the way down, also the pilot can do various acrobatic manoeuvres, like Loops, Rolls and Spins.

The climb takes about 15 minutes, with a few minutes spent in the edge of space area, with the whole flight lasting about 50 minutes total.

For many thriller seekers, the chance to ride a supersonic military jet, right to the edge of our atmosphere and into the Earth's stratosphere, may be closest thing to going into space.
