For more than 40 years, drivers have reported seeing a pale, frozen woman standing alone by the roadside—
sometimes waving for help,
sometimes appearing inside their cars,
and sometimes walking through the headlights without a sound.

Locals call her “The Hitchhiker of Lindis Pass.”

She is believed to be the spirit of a woman who died during a snowstorm in the late 1970s after her car slid off the road.
Her body was found reaching toward the highway—
as if she was trying to wave down a passing driver.

Since then, travellers have seen:
👁️ A freezing woman standing beside the highway
👁️ A ghostly figure sitting in empty passenger seats
👁️ Frost forming inside vehicles
👁️ A woman gently touching children’s shoulders
👁️ A figure staring from the middle of the road

Lindis Pass remains open today,
but night drivers all share the same warning:

If you see her… don’t stop.
She’s not looking for a ride.
