Описание к видео AFRO-ASIATIC: BOHAIRIC COPTIC & EGYPTIAN ARABIC

Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together.

COPTIC is a continuum of closely related dialects and the native language of Egypt, representing the most recent developments of the Egyptian language and historically spoken by all Egyptians. Bohairic is the dialect of the Nile Delta, gained prominence in the 9th century and is used as the liturgical language of the Coptic churches today.

Egyptian ARABIC, also known as Colloquial Egyptian or Masri, is the most widely spoken Arabic dialect in Egypt. It belongs to the Afro-Asiatic language family and originated in the Nile Delta in Lower Egypt. With an estimated 100 million speakers, it includes various dialects, with Cairene being the most prominent. Egyptian Arabic is widely understood across Arabic-speaking countries due to Egypt's cultural influence, particularly through cinema and music, making it the most studied Arabic variety.
