Johann Mattheson (1681-1764) was one of the most important German music theorists and critics of the 18th century. He was a big proponent of the later galant style and dramatic style in vocal music. His opus 7 titled "The Usable Virtuoso" includes 12 chamber sonatas written in the Corellian manner.
