Tools and Methods for Implementing Projects and Policies with Climate and Sustainable Development Co-benefits: The Case of Air Pollution

Few issues pose a greater threat to the health of the planet and people than air pollution and climate change. Fortunately, awareness is also growing of the co-benefits of tackling air pollution together with climate change through integrated solutions. The growing awareness of integrated solutions is partially related to tools that can reveal what kind of projects and policies can maximize benefits. The same tools may also help access climate finance for interventions with co-benefits.

On January 14th, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), and the UNEP-DTU Partnership hosted a webinar on “Tools and Methods for Implementing Projects and Policies with Climate and Sustainable Development Co-benefits: The Case of Air Pollution” that featured a presentation of co-benefits tools and discussed their application.

The webinar highlighted that there is already extensive experience working with co-benefits tools for air pollution that could contribute to the assessment of sustainable development more generally. It also underlined the need for open access to data if governments and other stakeholders are to capitalize on co-benefits tools.

This webinar is part of a knowledge-exchange webinar series on “Assessing the Climate and Sustainable Development Impacts of Projects and Policies”, jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank, the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, and the UNEP-DTU Partnership.
