Here's a bit about installation and my opinion of the Ultimak picatinny rail for the M1 carbine. I love my M1 but the old eyes need help and there hasn't been a good way to put optics on one until now. Don't toss that old wood handguard in the kindling pile, but this is what you need if you want to mount an optic.

I've been informed by UltiMAK they sell that Choate stock already modified to fit. You can't go wrong with Choate, either.
