House damaged, excavators buried after landslide hits Banderdewa in Arunachal Pradesh

Several people had a narrow escape after a landslide hit the National Highway-415 between Banderdewa and Nirjuli in Arunachal Pradesh’s Papum Pare district. The landslide was triggered by heavy rains and caused damage to the newly renovated highway. A house was completely damaged while two excavators and two motorcycles were buried in the debris

Arunachal Pradesh has been witnessing incessant rainfall causing landslides and damage to roads at several places. A portion of the road at the Karsingsa has been damaged. There are also reports of traffic jams in the Doimukh area due to a road blockage at Chiputa village, leaving commuters stranded since this morning.

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state over the next five days. It has also warned of thunderstorms with lightning and extremely heavy rains in isolated places.
