Storekeeper (SK)

Coast Guard Storekeppers, or SKs, procure, store, preserve, and package supplies, spare parts, provisions, technical items, and all other necessary supplies and services. They keep inventories, prepare requisitions, and check incoming supplies. Storekeepers handle all logistical functions and are experts in the Coast Guard accounting system, preparing financial accounts and reports. They utilize all types of office equipment and use computers extensively. They also operate all types of material handling equipment, including forklifts.

Coast Guard Storekeepers are stationed throughout the Coast Guard at sectors, bases, air stations, law enforcement teams, district offices and at Coast Guard headquarters. They also serve at sea on most large cutters, including ice-breakers and the new security cutters. SKs have opportunities for independent-duty assignments on buoy tenders and search and rescue stations.
