The video shows the repair of the up-and-down motor from a side-view mirror. The same fix would work for the side-to-side motor if it went bad. I believe the auto-adjust feature (that points the mirrors down when you put the car in reverse) is responsible for running the motors repeatedly and thus wearing the brushes to a point that they don't connect to the commutator in the motor. This first exhibits as an intermittent problem and eventually the up-and-down motor doesn't work at all. There may be other causes for this; but, this fix has worked for three separate mirrors on two ES330 vehicles that I have owned.
