Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reiterated his government’s firm stand on identifying and deporting illegal immigrants, calling them a serious threat to India’s national security. Addressing BJP workers at the party headquarters after new BJP chief Nitin Nabin took charge, PM Modi said no country in the world accepts illegal immigrants and India cannot allow them to take away the rights of the poor and the youth. He also criticised political parties protecting or covering up illegal immigrants for vote bank politics and said such forces must be exposed before the public. Without naming any party, his remarks were seen as an apparent attack on the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
