This is the start of my Genji: Dawn of the Samurai playthrough. I loved this game as a kid and still enjoy playing it today. I'm not the best at this, there are some downright shameful times with the Kamui where I fail at countering but I guess I did alright. I missed a few things here and there as well ,but for the most part I got alot of the secrets.
5:22 - Yoshitsune - And here we go, playing as Yoshitsune. Yoshitsune attacks fast and in long combos, but most of his attacks don't deal too much damage either. Yoshitsune deals slightly different attacks depending on where you aim the analog, and he can quickly switch his focus on targets. Square and Triangle attacks while X and R1 jump and guard. R1+Analog will have him dodge in that direction. Yoshitsune can double jump off walls and enemies. L1 activates Kamui. Circle allows you to interact.
11:20 - Boss(?) #1 - This is hardly a boss, but he does get a life bar. You can actually OHKO this "boss" if you land the Kamui first. I failed, of course. This guy becomes a common enemy later.
15:44 - Essence of Amahagane - I'll be finding these throughout the game. Using 3, you can increase a stat. Some you get by inspecting areas, others you get by attacking the air and striking them. You can tell when one is close by the glowing Amahagane on your body and also by the controller rumbling. Also, when upgrading HP, it will fully recover your health. So it's sometimes good to save the Essence just to get a free full heal.
17:20 - Kamui - This is where they explain Kamui. Basically, it slows down time and enters like a quick time event thing where you try to counter the enemy's attacks. It gets more complex as the game goes on. Also, you can counter with a OHKO or strong attack if you press square at the exact moment of an enemy attack, regardless if you're in Kamui or not.
25:10 - Boss #2: Hoe Goblin - This guy is the first real boss in the game, and this isn't the last we see of him. You'll notice that using Kamui on a boss won't kill them, but will instead deal massive damage and on MOST bosses, cause them to drop an item. Hoe Goblin isn't all that hard, just gotta take him out.
28:44 - Crafting Weapons/Armor - At the Blacksmith you can make Special Orders on certain equipment, but you need the materials and gold to do it. Some of these you can't all do in the same play through, and will have to do New Game+ if you want ALL the weapons and armor. You get the materials from using Kamui on bosses or finding the materials.
34:14 - Boss #3: Benkei - Now here we fight Benkei. I did pretty good until I got close to actually winning. Then he almost kills me and I have to heal. He doesn't drop anything for a successful Kamui. But to make up for it, now he's playable!
40:45 - Benkei - Now we'll play as Benkei. Unlike Yoshitsune, Benkei is considerably slower, but has more range, damage, and HP. He's good for dealing with groups more so than single targets. He can't dodge like Yoshitsune, and instead does a shoulder bash that pushes/knocks down enemies. He can charge his attacks with clubs, which make them deal more damage. He's capable of breaking doors and objects that Yoshitsune cannot, but he cannot double jump to reach higher heights.
41:45 - Mt. Kurama Backtracking - Since Benkei can do some thing Yoshitsune can't, we're back tracking here to get some stuff. Also we couldn't get the Amahagane essence last time we were here, so we're getting that too. Get used to this backtracking with different characters, there's alot of times you have to go to the same area to reach a place the other character couldn't.
49:59 - Blue Threat - As you may notice, I made the mistake of buying the Blue Threat armor. Don't do this, it is a waste of money. If you are playing as Benkei, then you will just find the superior White Tiger armor in the next area. If you are not, then after you clear the next area with Yoshitsune, there will be better armor at the Blacksmith anyways. Yes, this was worth making a note about. Everytime I play this I fall for buying this and regret it half an hour later.
55:15 - New Game+ Challenge - This right here is only available in New Game+. If I remember right, it's like a survival mode of fights basically. I won't be showing this because I cba to replay the game again just for that. Maybe one day in the future I will, when I feel like replaying Genji again.
