The arrest affidavit was released on Wednesday, shedding new light on the fatal stabbing of a woman at a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Palm Beach Gardens.

The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department said that 40-year-old Antonio Moore faces first-degree premeditated murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 65-year-old Rita B. Loncharich on Dec. 22.

According to the arrest affidavit, the stabbing occurred around 7:53 p.m. on Monday at the Barnes & Noble located at 11380 Legacy Avenue. Officers discovered Loncharich bleeding, with a knife lodged in her back. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts and transport by Fire Rescue to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, she died in surgery at 9:22 p.m.

Officers apprehended Moore, who arrived recently from Georgia by bus, about 1,500feet from the scene near Fairchild Avenue and Campus Drive, according to the arrest affidavit. He was arrested without incident and later allegedly confessed to police stabbing Loncharich without prior acquaintance.

In a recorded Miranda-advised interview, Moore said an “internal buildup” triggered a fight-or-flight response, prompting the unprovoked attack.

Moore allegedly heard Rita say, "He stabbed me," according to the arrest report.

Moore was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail for first-degree premeditated murder.
