Nick showcases his impressive 1969 VC Safari, a unique family wagon that packs an incredible punch. Originally a farm car with a slant-six engine and bench seats, this Valiant has been transformed into a high-performance family cruiser while maintaining its clean, straight appearance.
Under the bonnet, Nick's Safari features a heavily modified 2014 Barra motor with forged pistons, rods, and custom intake manifold. Currently running a G40 4050 turbo, the car produces 1000 horsepower at the wheels - more than enough for family duties. Nick's already planning an upgrade to a J45 1500 turbo to reach his goal of 1250 real horsepower.
The build includes numerous performance upgrades like dual fuel pumps, Q1 chrome moly front suspension, custom , adjustable shocks, and Wilwood disc brakes front and back. Modern touches include a Haltech computer and dash display, bringing some current technology to this classic wagon.
Despite its incredible power, this Safari remains true to its family car roots. Nick regularly drives it on weekends with his kids, proving that classic cruisers can still serve as practical transportation. As he notes, building a Valiant Safari presents unique challenges, with parts being particularly scarce unless found at swap meets or through secondhand sources.
The result is a perfect blend of classic style and modern performance - a family wagon that can run 9-second quarters while taking the kids for a drive.
