LIVE: As monsoon season nears end, skew in rainfall persists across India

India is experiencing one of its wettest monsoon seasons in over a century, with overall monsoon to end in the above normal range. The overall monsoon is expected to surpass the long-period average (LPA) by 6-8%. This is the first time since 2020 that the country has recorded such significant rainfall, following similarly high levels in 2019. The 2024 monsoon season is shaping up to be one of the most exceptional in recent memory, driven by climate factors like El Niño and other weather systems that may continue to bring rain beyond the typical season, which usually concludes in September.
