Threaten effects are the community name for cards, usually red cards, that take an opponent’s creature for a turn and let you attack with it. The very first card with this kind of effect was named threaten, hence the name. Threatens are very powerful effects, but are usually costed quite highly to balance that out, and the combination of high risk, high reward gameplay they offer has made them simultaneously very powerful but very rarely played. Still, despite these risks, there are a number of threaten effects that have still seen competitive play, and today, we’re going to go over the best of them all.
