Speech by Mr. Matthew Simonds, International Trade Union Confederation during the Post-2015 Intergovernmental Negotiations on 19 February 2015. Mr. Matthew Simonds spoke on behalf of the Workers and Trade Unions Major Group. He is American living in France. The Co-Facilitators of the post-2015 process, H.E. Ambassador Macharia Kamau (Kenya) and H.E. Ambassador David Donoghue (Ireland), convened this interactive dialogue on 19 February with Major Groups and other stakeholders to discuss the Declaration section of the post-2015 development agenda. UN-NGLS and UN DESA Division for Sustainable Development co-facilitated an open and participatory process in partnership with a stakeholder steering committee to identify 18 speakers for this dialogue with Member States. This process ensured regional and gender balance, diversity of expertise, constituencies and age among stakeholder speakers.
