Planning Your Kajabi Website Using A Mind Map

Before building your Kajabi website you need to plan it out first. Here's how you do it with mind maps.

So now that you have your vision of what you want to do, then you need to create a plan. I've had some people just simply say, they haven't even logged in. Or they took.... they logged in, they took one look at it, and they were immediately overwhelmed and simply didn't know where to start. I'm not even asking you to log into Kajabi and do anything at this point. This is you sitting down and creating a plan and making some key decisions. So I happen to make this mind map. Now mind you I'm not a mind map person normally but this kind of seemed to work really well where there are some key questions that you should ask yourself before you start anything. So for example, are you even going to use Kajabi for your public website? You might not need to. As I said, you might have a Wordpress site, you've been creating consistent content on it, it works really well for you, you have the option or the experience of having some search engine optimization, perhaps your ranking for particular search terms that are important for your business. In that case, it's okay. You don't need Kajabi for your website. But if you're just getting started then you might want to use it. So then the question is, are you going to use a blog? Are you going to create a blog whether that is for written blog content, podcast episodes, because yes you can embed podcast player in a Kajabi blog and have it available. Same thing with a video show, you can upload your videos, have them hosted on Kajabi and use that as your blog content. And so yes. Yes you want to then set up a blog page and your blog post templates in Kajabi. If you're already using a blog on Wordpress then you don't need to do anything and you don't need to worry about it. Do you want to use a custom domain? So when you first start with Kajabi it's my first site, you know, Deanna's first site.mykajabi.com most of us don't really want to use that as our domain. So you can have the option of changing it to your domain name, a domain name that you might own. You might even.... if you have a domain name pointing to another website you can create a subdomain. Like in my case, it's programs.deannafenton.com so then you can follow and know that that's part of your plan of action. I need to create and set up a custom domain. Once again, our next decision is, are you going to use Kajabi for your email marketing? So if you're going to use it for your email marketing, you can just start with that. If you want to continue to use something like Convertkit, Active Campaign, or God forbid Mail Chimp, not a fan. Then there is a third-party integration that you can set up using Kajabi to be able to use any of those tools. Are you going to.... for your payment processing, are you going to use Stripe? Paypal? Or both? Because you can use both. In which case, you need to set up the appropriate accounts and integrate that account with your Kajabi site. Then depending on your content, how do you want to create your content? How do you want to present your content to your students your members? Is it something where you're going to drip the content out over time or you're going to make it all available to them? This is a decision that isn't permanent.
