The problem is that the divisions within Sony never really work with each other and they have always kept their own research within their own division. So Audio never shared with Camera, TV, entertainment or whatever... It was just each of them doing their own things...

They are quite at the top of the game with the cameras, and still trying to figure out how to make their TV magic affordable, but today, we see proof that Sony might have just gotten their computational audio right.
