Thick layer of smog continues to engulf the national capital. The Air Quality Index (AQI) currently stands at 476. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has advised people to avoid going outdoors in view of 'severe' air pollution and has also said that the city should get ready to take emergency steps. The highways can be clearly seen covered with a thick blanket of smog, making it difficult for the drivers. Experts think that crackers and burning of stubble, also known as 'parali', in Punjab and Haryana has led to this toxic air quality in the national capital.
