The month-long Inter-Departmental Sports Mela (IDSM-25) of Waltair Division was inaugurated today (08.04.2025) at the Waltair Railway Cricket Stadium by Divisional Railway Manager Shri Lalit Bohra. The event, organized by the East Coast Railway Sports Association (ECoRSA) of Waltair, saw participation from employees of 13 departments.

The inauguration ceremony began with great enthusiasm as DRM Shri Lalit Bohra ceremoniously lit the Olympic Torch, marking the official start of this prestigious sports event. A group of international sportsmen and sportswomen, led by Dhyanchand awardee Smt. N. Usha, carried the torch around the venue. The torch was then passed to the DRM, who lit the main flame, signifying the commencement of the games.

The inaugural function was attended by key dignitaries, including Shri Manoj Kumar Sahoo, ADRM (Operations); Shri E. Santharam, ADRM (Infrastructure); Shri Praveen Bhati, Sports Officer; Shri B. Avinash, Joint Sports Officer (DEE); Branch officers; executive members of ECoRWWO & ECoRSA; and Reddy Srinivasa Rao, General Secretary of ECoRSA.

In his address to the gathering, DRM Shri Lalit Bohra highlighted the immense sporting talent within the Waltair Division, noting that it excels in both professional work and sports. He emphasized that the Sports Mela fosters a sense of team spirit and enthusiasm, driving the division to reach new heights. DRM Shri Lalit Bohra also noted the remarkable participation of women employees, who are eager and energetic in engaging in various sports. He acknowledged that such a sports festival is organized in only a few divisions of Indian Railways. DRM extended his best wishes to all participants and praised the media for their extensive coverage.
