Trade ministers of World Trade Organization (WTO) member states have gathered for the first time in four years at the 12th Ministerial Conference in Geneva. The meeting, also known as MC12, started on Sunday, has been extended by one day, until Thursday, to facilitate outcomes on the main issues under discussion. Representatives from the WTO's 164 members discussed issues including pandemic response, fishery subsidies, food security, as well as the WTO's reform and priorities. At the opening of MC12, China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao said China's willing to work with all parties so that the WTO could play a bigger role in global economic recovery.
