From Harlem to South Shields. From graffiti to heritage.A British icon, reimagined.

To celebrate END.’s 20th anniversary, we partnered with Harlem-born graffiti writer and multidisciplinary artist Shaun Crawford and British outerwear pioneers ‪@barbour‬ to radically reinterpret the legendary Solway Jacket.

First introduced in the 1960s and admired for its rugged durability, functionality and timeless style, the Solway has been worn, repaired, and re-loved for generations. Over three days at Barbour’s historic South Shields factory, Crawford immersed himself in the brand’s heritage of craft, fusing it with the raw energy of New York street culture, punk spirit, and his experimental textile practice.

The result is a one-of-one collector’s piece: leather panelling inspired by track jackets, a faux ocelot fur collar, and hardware detailing that disrupts tradition with a contemporary edge. A jacket that speaks to both heritage and rebellion.

This short film documents the journey - from archive exploration to final creation - as two worlds collide in a rare cultural dialogue between Harlem and the North East of England.
