एकादशी के दिन चावल खाना पाप क्यों है, जानते हैं आप ?

हिंदू धर्म में एकादशी व्रत बहुत पवित्र और प्रभावकारी माना गया है, इस दिन चावल न खाने का विशेष प्रावधान है, जो धर्म और विज्ञान, दोनों दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण है -

धर्म अनुसार कथा मिलती है कि जिस दिन परम तपस्वी महर्षि मेधा धरती में समा गए थे, वो एकादशी का ही दिन था, और चावल धरती के नीचे उत्पन्न होता है, इसलिए उस दिन चावल का भोग करना महर्षि मेधा के मांस और खून का सेवन करने के समान माना गया है, एकादशी के दिन वो हर पदार्थ खाने से दोष लगता है, जो धरती में उतपन्न हुई हो, जैसे प्याज़, आलू, चावल ।

अब विज्ञान ये है कि चावल के सेवन से शरीर में पानी की मात्रा बढ़ जाती है जिससे मन विचलित और चंचल हो जाता है और व्रत नियम पालन होने में अड़चन आती है, इसलिए एकादशी के दिन चावल खाना वर्जित भी है और पाप भी ।
