The Space Station Processing Facility

Описание к видео The Space Station Processing Facility

A musical tribute to my favorite building at Kennedy Space Center:

The Space Station Processing Facility (SSPF) is a large 457,000 sq ft industrial building at the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Constructed in 1991 and opened in 1994, the SSPF was designed to manufacture and process 95% of all the modular and structural components for the International Space Station, which are made from stainless steel, titanium, aluminum and Kevlar.

Today it's used to fabricate and process modules, cargo and spacecraft for the Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway, the Dream-Chaser 'mini space shuttle' and Cygnus cargo vehicles.

The interior is very beautiful, and impressively clean and spotless. Lights inside the processing bays are usually brilliant white, but often change hues into purple, or sometimes golden yellow.

A quarter century since it's opening, the SSPF never loses its shine.
