S Chand's Mathematics Summit 3.0 | Differentiated Instruction

Описание к видео S Chand's Mathematics Summit 3.0 | Differentiated Instruction

The shift towards inclusive education has increased the diversity of academic needs in classrooms, making it difficult for teachers to reach all learners effectively. Traditional methods of teaching to the middle are no longer sufficient for students with varying abilities and exceptionalities (Pierce et al., 2004). Compounding this challenge is the rise of low achievement scores in mathematics (Geary, 2011). Differentiated instruction, as endorsed by the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), customizes teaching methods, resources, and activities to cater to diverse student needs. This session will offer actionable strategies for implementing differentiated instruction in math, ensuring equitable support for every student. Our session aims to equip educators with a practical framework to tackle classroom challenges, moving away from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. By using varied instructional strategies, materials, and assessments, teachers can create personalized and inclusive learning experiences focused on building competencies.

Through this session, all participants will be able to:
• Assessing Readiness: Learn techniques to evaluate each student's mathematical understanding.
• Identifying Interests: Discover methods to incorporate student interests and learning styles.
• Content: Tailor what students learn to match their readiness levels.
• Process: Use diverse methods to engage students with math content.
• Product: Allow various ways for students to demonstrate understanding.
• Key Concepts: Focus on fundamental math principles to ensure all students grasp essential concepts.
• Instructional Planning: Use a structured progression to guide teaching and learning.
• Task Design: Create open-ended and parallel tasks with multiple entry points and solutions to accommodate different abilities and promote problem-solving.
