Invited to Jewish Book Week in London, February 2013, Iosi Havilio talked to Maya Jaggi about the germinating moment as a child when he heard of the Open Door psychiatric institute and village, as well as about listening for the voice of the narrator. He also talks about how the voice is somehow linked to his family's escape from Nazi Europe and how the book is not strictly realism, but about listening to a hidden music. A short extract here.
