🧬 Histologic Features

Antoni B areas: Looser, myxoid regions with fewer cells.

S-100 protein positivity: Strong immunoreactivity confirms Schwann cell origin.

🩺 Clinical Presentation
Solitary, painless mass: Often found in the head, neck, or limbs.

Slow-growing: May go unnoticed for years.

Neurological symptoms: If the tumor compresses adjacent nerves, it can cause pain, numbness, or weakness.

Mobile on transverse palpation: A subtle clinical clue.

📍 Common Sites
Peripheral nerves: Especially in the upper limbs, head, and neck.

Cranial nerves: Vestibular schwannomas (acoustic neuromas) arise from CN VIII.

Spinal nerve roots: Can cause radicular pain or neurologic deficits.

🛠️ Management
Observation: For asymptomatic or slow-growing lesions.

Surgical excision: Preferred for symptomatic tumors or diagnostic uncertainty. Recurrence is rare and prognosis is excellent.
