Since we are enjoying beutiful spring weather this video features a record I found at the flea market a few days back. The song is called "C'est le printemps" (It's spring) from the operetta "Marseille mes amours" (Marseille my love). The song is performed by Le Jazz Marseillais of bandleader and composer Georges Sellers (1907-87).

Sellers won the Grand Prix for piano at the Consevatoire de Marseille at the age of 16. Afterwards he went tot Paris where he became bandleader of the orchestra at the popular cabaret 'Bal Tabarin" between 1929 and 1931. He worked closely with composer Vincent Scotto and worked as arranger on the "Marseille" operettas composed by Scotto. After Scotto started working closely with singer Tino Rossi, Scotto went at it alone and composed a number of popular "Marseille" operettas which featured the singer Alibert. The 1938 operetta "Marseille mes amours" was made into a feature movie in 1940.

The video features images of the Côte d'Azur.

The singer featured on this recording is "forgotten singer" Marcel Véran. His version of "Bambina Innamorata" called "Mon coeur part en voyage" can be found in my channel :
