Thousands of Kenyans have taken to the streets across major cities — including Nairobi, Kisumu, and Mombasa — to mourn the death of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, who passed away in India after a cardiac arrest.
Emotional scenes unfolded as mourners sang freedom songs, lit candles, and waved portraits of Raila, calling him “the people’s president” and a “true hero of democracy.”
Traffic in parts of the Nairobi CBD and several highways came to a halt as processions of mourners flooded the streets, chanting Raila’s name. Police have urged calm, saying the gatherings have so far remained peaceful.
Watch this full report on how Kenya is mourning one of its most influential political leaders — a man whose decades-long struggle for democracy left a lasting mark on the nation.
