Smoking a Kool Luxe Smooth Non-Menthol Cigarette (Review), which are one of the newest additions to the brand’s lineup, having been introduced in mid-2023 alongside the Bolds, with this pack being the lighter of the two.
With the additions of these two new varieties, Kool is no longer a menthol-exclusive brand. However, up until recently, it was indeed a menthol-specific brand of cigarettes, having been first introduced in the United States in 1933 by the Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, then a subsidiary of British American Tobacco, and achieved immediate success, initially being marketed as a cigarette to smoke when you have a cold or sore throat.
Today, in the United States, the nameplate is now owned by ITG, Imperial Tobacco’s United States subsidiary, and is not as popular as it once was, due to the menthol market having become more and more competitive. Outside of the United States, Kools are produced by British American Tobacco, and depending on the market, are more popular than not.
