IDF says 65 rockets fired from Lebanon in the past hour; Safed woman lightly hurt from impact
Some 65 rockets were launched from Lebanon at northern Israel in the past hour, according to the IDF.

Shortly after 10 p.m., a barrage of 30 rockets was launched at Safed. The IDF says some of the rockets were intercepted by air defenses. Safed officials report at least two impacts in the city that caused damage.

A 68-year-old woman was lightly wounded as a result of one of the rocket impacts in Safed, medics say. The Magen David Adom ambulance service says the woman sustained trauma from the blast. She is being taken to Ziv Hospital in the city.

According to the IDF’s latest assessments, Hezbollah only managed to launch 24 rockets at northern Israel overnight, all of which were intercepted by air defenses.

Large pieces of shrapnel fell in the Jezreel Valley following the interceptions, causing damage to a barn in one area and slightly wounding a man in another. The IDF says there were no direct rocket impacts in the attacks, claimed by Hezbollah.

The Iranian Red Crescent reported that 95 people who were wounded from the explosions of communication devices on Tuesday and Wednesday in Lebanon have been transferred to Iran to receive treatment, according to reporting by the Saudi news channel Al-Haddad.

Only a ceasefire deal in Gaza stemming from hoped-for talks this week would hold Iran back from direct retaliation against Israel for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on its soil, three senior Iranian officials said.
Iran has vowed a severe response to Haniyeh's killing, which took place as he visited Tehran late last month and which it blamed on Israel. Israel has neither confirmed or denied its involvement. The U.S. Navy has deployed warships and a submarine to the Middle East to bolster Israeli defenses.
One of the sources, a senior Iranian security official, said Iran, along with allies such as Hezbollah, would launch a direct attack if the Gaza talks fail or it perceives Israel is dragging out negotiations. The sources did not say how long Iran would allow for talks to progress before responding.
With an increased risk of a broader Middle East war after the killings of Haniyeh and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr, Iran has been involved in intense dialogue with Western countries and the United States in recent days on ways to calibrate retaliation, said the sources, who all spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.(Reuters)
